BIO
Memphis and the Grande is an original country rock band “kicking up new songs from the dirt road that feel like old friends.” Coming together in 2018, this group of tenured Troubadours is led by Calgary’s charismatic Métis stargazer Ross “Memphis” Pambrun and joined by guitar-slinger singer/songwriter Stephen "Kinger" King, an original artist with 15 albums of his own. The rest of The Grande come from diverse musical backgrounds to build a Calgary supergroup of sorts, including founding members of Calgary’s treasured The Dino Martini’s, Brent “B.K.” Kawchuk and Don “Big Bird” McSweeney, and gadabout "Dr. Szee" Mark Szavo. Noted Métis fiddler Alex Kusturok is a special guest fiddler on several tunes, including Red River Gold. Alex is a rising international star who played for the Pope during the Métis/Indigenous delegation seeking reconciliation and has been called “The Métis Ashley McIsaac.”
The band has enjoyed artists-in-residency at both CSpace and The Grand in Calgary, and have played their share of Calgary Stampede parties, Banff events, headlining local festivals, and appearing at Smokey Lake and the "Back to Batoche" annual national Métis gathering.
These Country Gentlemen can get the toe-tappers up to dance with their brand of outlaw country -- “every show we play is like our Saturday Night.” ~Memphis
Their full-length album "Songs From The Dirt Road" was released on February 20th, 2024; the nine songs have received about 200K streams in over 50 countries.
Memphis, who is also Captain of the Calgary Fire Department, speaks nationwide on Artificial Intelligence and Indigenous Awareness. He is a Métis business leader and wears medals for his 24+ years of firefighting service.
Ross is the host of APTN’s ‘Red River Gold’ 2-season series, with international release in early summer, 2025.
Memphis and The Grande's latest single "Red River Gold" is played on the APTN series, is available on this website, and streaming everywhere.
